Umpire Etiquette

  • Arrive to the field 20 minutes before the games begins with your partner to reassure coaches and the site director (Usually a man or woman sitting near a tent ready to give you the scorecards for the duration of your games) This gives you time to get water or food, use the bathroom, or do whatever you need to do to get ready!

  • Walk on the field with 10 minutes remaining until game time to show you are there to the coaches and the site director.

Can I get a head coach please!"

May I have the coaches!"

"Coaches!"

  • We never address spectators during a contest only directly speak to the managers or coaches. It displays professionalism, and breeds the grounds for respect when you do not take time to speak to those not in the game. (Unless it is friendly banter in between innings)

  • Always keep an official time (On your phone, watches, etc.) and verbally display and show the time you are starting your clock to both coaches and your partner at the plate meeting.
